Manchurian
Completed in early 2019. MOA was approached in 2018 to design a fast casual restaurant in West Sacramento that will specialize in a fusion of Indian and Chinese culinary styles also known as Hakka cuisine.
MOA was tasked with taking a former Radio Shack, and designing a space that creates a brand identity for the restaurant that can be reinterpreted in future restaurant spaces. A clean palette of warm wood, polished concrete and clean bright stone was chosen to create a modern inviting space. Patterns are introduced through decorative tile and the overlapping of wooden slats to introduce visual interest and elevate the minimal material palette. An art wall of street scenes from urban India was created by MOA to add some dynamic movement to the space.
